Since 2018, we've partnered with landowners to generate biodiversity credits on their land and helped development proponents source the credits they need.

NSW recognises over 1,846 ecosystem credit types (traded across 388 Offset Trading Groups) and 929 species credit types, making it the country's highest-integrity biodiversity market.
Landowners enter into Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements, committing to the in-perpetuity protection and active management of biodiversity values. In return, they receive saleable Biodiversity Credits based on the expected improvement in biodiversity outcomes. Development and infrastructure projects offset their unavoidable impacts to biodiversity values by purchasing these credits.
Dorado works directly with private sector and government proponents delivering infrastructure, renewables, mining and other projects requiring significant Biodiversity Credit offsets. We support proponents in two ways:
Credit Portfolio: sourcing credits from our extensive existing inventory for immediate sale.
Credit Creation: generating specific credits that are scarce, don't yet exist in the market or are required at scale, by partnering with suitable landowners.
Our credit creation service delivers proponents a substantial cost saving versus the alternative of paying into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund (BCF), while securing genuine like-for-like offsets, a materially better biodiversity outcome.
The Biodiversity Offset Scheme can deliver landowners two revenue streams: proceeds from credit sales, and perpetual annual stewardship payments from the NSW Government to fund ongoing land management.
Dorado partners with landowners to create and sell Biodiversity Credits. Our expert team manages the entire process - from credit creation through to sale, in close consultation with the landowner, so they can continue their day-to-day farming activities without additional capital or time outlay. The result is a new, long-term income stream from their land while permanently enhancing its environmental value and providing for better, holistic land management.
